Why Choose This?
- True bidirectional conversion: BSS138 MOSFET design allows data to flow both ways - essential for I2C (SDA/SCL) and UART (TX/RX) communication
- Protects your 3.3V devices: Prevents 5V signals from damaging sensitive components like Raspberry Pi GPIO, ESP8266, ESP32, and BME280 sensors
- Built-in pull-up resistors: Onboard 10kOhm pull-ups on both sides mean no extra components needed for I2C lines
- Ultra-compact form factor: Tiny breakout board fits easily on breadboards and inside enclosures
- Flexible voltage range: Low side supports 1.8V to 3.3V, making it compatible with a wide range of modern low-voltage ICs
- 100% authentic from trusted suppliers
- 1-5 day shipping, 7-8 day delivery from Bengaluru warehouse
- Expert technical support included
How It Works
Each channel uses a BSS138 N-channel MOSFET with pull-up resistors on both the high-voltage and low-voltage sides. When a low-side device pulls a line LOW, the MOSFET conducts and pulls the high side LOW as well - and vice versa. When neither side is pulling LOW, the pull-up resistors hold both sides HIGH at their respective voltage levels. This elegant design enables safe, reliable bidirectional communication without any active ICs or external power beyond the reference voltages.
Pin Configuration
| Low-Voltage Side | High-Voltage Side |
| LV (3.3V reference input) | HV (5V reference input) |
| GND | GND |
| LV1 (Channel 1 - 3.3V side) | HV1 (Channel 1 - 5V side) |
| LV2 (Channel 2 - 3.3V side) | HV2 (Channel 2 - 5V side) |
Typical Wiring - I2C Example (Arduino to 3.3V Sensor)
| Connection | High Side (5V) | Low Side (3.3V) |
| Power Reference | HV -> Arduino 5V | LV -> 3.3V supply |
| Ground | GND -> Arduino GND | GND -> Sensor GND |
| SDA (Channel 1) | HV1 -> Arduino SDA (A4) | LV1 -> Sensor SDA |
| SCL (Channel 2) | HV2 -> Arduino SCL (A5) | LV2 -> Sensor SCL |
