During charging, it prevents any cell from exceeding 4.25V and balances cells to equalize voltages. During discharge, it cuts off output if any cell drops below 2.5V, protecting cells from deep discharge damage. The onboard MOSFETs also limit current to 10A and instantly disconnect the circuit during a short circuit event.
