How It Works

  • Charging Phase: Connect a 5V source to the Micro-USB port or IN+/IN pads. The TP4056 charges the battery connected to BAT+/BAT at a constant 1A current until the cell reaches 4.2V, then tapers the current until charging is complete.
  • Protection Phase: The DW01A IC continuously monitors the battery voltage. If the cell drops below ~2.4V during discharge, the 8205A MOSFETs disconnect the load from OUT+/OUT. Similarly, if overcurrent (~3A) or a short circuit is detected, the output is immediately cut off.
  • Important Wiring Note: Always connect your load to the OUT+/OUT pads (not directly to BAT+/BAT) to benefit from the protection circuitry. Connecting directly to the battery pads bypasses all protection.
